July 13, 2022: Georgia Train Derailment Closes SR 247

A Norfolk Southern freight train derailed in Warner Robbins, Georgia on Monday. State Route 247 was temporarily closed due to the derailment. Initial reports indicated there was hazardous materials leaking from the train. However, the Houston County Emergency Management Agency later disputed that. The agency said “No hazardous materials are involved or leaking however we urge drivers to use alternate routes to limit traffic for our responders.”
