May 13, 2022: Train Derails into Ohio River

More than 26 boxcars derailed in Mad River Township, OH. Several of the cars slid down an embankment, landing in the woods or river. Firefighters responded to the scene around 5:30 pm on Thursday. The derailed boxcars were carrying new vehicles. Local residents are asked to avoid the one mile long derailment site while crews clean-up the area. The railroad crew was not injured and no hazardous materials appear to have been involved. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
