September 5, 2022: Oil Spill and Fire Shut Down 710 Freeway

A multi-vehicle accident on the 710 freeway in Vernon, CA caused an oil spill and vehicle fire. The accident occurred on Friday morning and spilled an unknown amount of oil on the freeway. While authorities were dealing with the traffic accident and oil spill, a street sweeper nearby caught fire. The driver of the street sweeper was temporarily trapped in the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. The freeway remained closed through Saturday morning while crews cleaned the scene.
