A failed flange on a deepwater platform at the Fourchon Junction Station dumped oil into Port Fourchon, LA on Thursday. Greater Lafourche Port Commission Executive Director Chett Chiasson said “These sorts of events are treated with the utmost seriousness by everyone. This is why a number of deepwater platforms halted production after the leak was detected.” Repairs on the platform are expected to be completed by Friday. No marshland or open water was impacted by the spill.
