August 15, 2022: Leaking Railcar Causes Evacuation in California

A chemical leaking from a railcar lead to an evacuation in Perris, CA on Friday. The spill was reported to authorities around 7:40pm. Officials closed the 215 Freeway and evacuated the area for several hours. Firefighters pumped water through the railcar to help cool it down and prevent it from exploding. No injuries were reported. The cause of the leak is currently under investigation. Authorities have not released the chemical involved.
