A tractor-trailer hauling hazardous materials rolled over on I-64W near the Charleston split on Tuesday morning. The westbound lanes of I-64 and I-77 were shut down for several hours. No injuries were reported. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The primary chemical being hauled was acetone. Authorities said the spilled chemicals deteriorated the asphalt on the Washington St. exit off I-64W. The road will be have to repaved before it is able to be reopened.
