Greensboro firefighters, hazmat and city crews responded to a chemical spill in Greensboro, NC on Friday. A local resident noticed a strong chemical odor and saw the creek had turned white. He contacted authorities who determined the spill originated from an unnamed business in the area. The owners of the business are cooperating with authorities.
Crews are using hoses to siphon the creek. Authorities have not stated how much of the chemical actually reached the creek. The company responsible has not been fined yet but officials expect some form of enforcement action to be taken.
