The fire on board the cargo ship, Felicity Ace, loaded with $334.5 million in luxury cars is almost extinguished. The abandoned ship has been burning for the past week while floating 90 miles off of Portugal’s Azores Islands.
Twenty-two crewmembers were safely evacuated after the fire began to spread throughout the ship.
Authorities don’t know what started the initial fire at this time. However, they have revealed that it was fueled by the lithium-ion batteries contained in the electric cars onboard.
