A BNSF mixed freight train derailed in San Bernardino County, CA on Wednesday afternoon. Approximately 44 cars derailed causing one of the tank cars carrying denatured alcohol to spill thousands of gallons of the flammable liquid.
The hazmat unit of the San Bernardino County Fire Department was able to mitigate the leak. BNSF personnel are working with the fire department to begin the “extensive clean-up process”. The National Trails Highway will be closed for an unknown duration. The closure will take place from Ludlow through two miles east of the community.
