Jasvinder Riar, a Canadian National Railway employee, was killed during switching operations in the early hours of Monday morning. The accident took place in Surrey, B.C. at CN’s Thornton Yard.
The Transportation Safety Board, Surrey RCMP, and Technical Safety BC are all currently investigating the accident.
Canadian National Railway has not provided any further details on what took place Monday morning. The company did release the following statement via email. “We want to offer our sincere condolences to the employee’s family and community in these tragic times.” Mr. Riar leaves behind a 9 month old son and a wife.
