ST. GEORGE — Fire departments teamed up Sunday morning after a chemical spill requires a full hazmat response.

At approximately 6:35 a.m., the Hurricane Valley Fire District responded to a report of a fire alarm at 985 N. Sky Mountain Blvd in Hurricane, according to a news release issued by the agency.

The first crews on the scene reported “steam and a strong chemical odor” emanating from a vent on a pool mechanical building and requested additional resources from the Southwest Regional Response team. Hurricane Vally Fire crews “immediately set up hazmat operations,” including hazard control zones and decontamination.
