October 23, 2022: Hazmat Train Derailment in Framingham

A CSX freight train derailed in Framingham, MA on Sunday morning. Six railcars and one locomotive derailed near Route 135 and Waverly Street. Five of the derailed cars were hazardous materials cars carrying CO2. The cause of the derailment is under investigation. No hazardous material spilled during the derailment.
The railroad issued the following statement “CSX is working closely with the Framingham Police and other first responders and has re-railed the locomotive. The safety of the community and everyone on site is our top priority as we work to clear the remaining cars and re-rail the track.”
