October 3, 2022: Derailment Causes Massive Gasoline Spill in Montana

A BNSF freight train derailed in Bridger, MT causing a massive gasoline spill. Around 31,000 gallons of fuel spilled from the damaged tank cars. Local residents were evacuated on Friday night as a precaution. No injuries have been reported. The train was carrying gasoline, animal fat, coal, and other products.
Two of the tank cars carrying gasoline began leaking after impact. One tank car emptied its entire 30,000 gallons. The other tank car only released about 1,000 gallons. Officials have stated the fuel did not reach the Yellowstone River and poses no threat to local drinking water.
