A CSX rail car near the Brunswick, MD rail yard was found to be leaking Hydrogen Chloride Sunday evening. A local campground, the C&O Canal, and much of the rail yard was shut down just after 8:30pm. One person was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Their current condition has not been released.
Emergency services contacted CSX to ensure all rail traffic remains stopped in the area until the situation is resolved. The cause of the leak is currently under investigation. MARC train passengers that normally board at the Brunswick MARC station are asked to use the Point of Rocks station.
