August 23, 2022: Major Gas Spill in Yellowstone National Park

The driver of a fuel tanker lost control of the vehicle on Highway 191 and spilled 5,000 gallons of gasoline. That portion of the highway runs through the western part of Yellowstone National Park. The accident occurred near mile marker 16. Officials are unsure if any fuel reached the nearby Grayling Creek but they are closely monitoring the waterway. No injuries have been reported. Officials are investigating what caused the driver to lose control of the tanker truck.
