August 17, 2022: Crude Oil Spilled in Houston

The Texas General Land Office and the Coast Guard responded to a large oil spill in Tabbs Bay near Houston. Authorities have identified the cause of the spill but have not released that information to the public. Over 2,000 feet of booms were deployed to contain the spill. It is estimated the 420 gallons of crude oil was spilled into the bay. There have been no reports of a negative impact to the marine wildlife but officials are monitoring the area.
