July 30, 2022: Massive Oil Spill in Mississippi River

The US Coast Guard responded to an oil spill in the Mississippi River near Kenner, LA on Thursday evening. A tanker vessel discharged around 2,100 gallons of oil during a fueling operation with a fuel barge. The tanker’s crew worked quickly to contain the spill. The cause of the spill is currently under investigation. Authorities are monitoring the effects on local wildlife.
