July 12, 2022: Fuel Theft Causes Large Fuel Spill in Colorado

Over 200 gallons of diesel fuel has spilled into Bear Creek after an unknown person drilled a hole into a semi’s fuel tank. The semi truck was parked in Lakewood, Colorado over night.
The Lakewood Police Department was called to the scene just before 7am on Monday. The officer said there was a”strong smell of diesel and fuel was spilling out of the tank.” The fuel spilled into a drainage area that leads to Bear Creek. Clean-up efforts are underway.
The Lakewood Police Department is seeking any information on the person responsible. They are asking anyone with information to call 303-480-7300.
