June 24, 2022: Chemical Leak in Spokane Leads to Shelter-in-Place Order

The Spokane Fire Department responded to reports of a vapor leak at Haskins Steel Co. on Wednesday evening. Authorities issued a temporary shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area while they tried to determine the source of the leak. With the help of video technology, firefighters were able to identify and stop the leak. Officials identified the leak as pressurized nitrogen and oxygen. There were no injuries and no environmental impact resulting from the leak.
