June 20, 2022: Coal Train Derailed in Kansas City

A Union Pacific freight train derailed in Kansas City, MO around 5pm on Friday. Officials said around 20 cars loaded with coal detached from the engine and derailed. Several tons of coal spilled on the tracks and surrounding area.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office used infrared technology to scan the train for hot spots or fires. There were no injuries reported.
