Authorities responded to a large fuel spill at an Alabama gas station on Sunday. The 911 call came in at 10 am. The caller claimed gasoline was “coming from the ground”. Firefighters evacuated the area and immediately turned the underground containment system pumps off. Part of Highway 280 was closed overnight. Around 350 gallons of gasoline leached onto the pavement at the Pit Stop in Childersburg, AL. Authorities contained the spill and are continuing to monitor sewers, manholes, and drainage ditches in the area.
