April 20, 2022: Fuel Truck Struck by Train in Nashville

Train collides with fuel truck, causing spill, evacuations in Nashville

A fuel truck carrying 5,000 gallons of fuel was struck by a train on Tuesday morning in Nashville. There were no injuries reported. A small amount of the fuel did reach a storm drain but crews worked through the morning to contain the spill.
A spokesperson for the Nashville Fire Department states “The tanker truck was transporting ethanol, which is extremely flammable and combustible. Anything as simple as someone within in the perimeter starting up their vehicle or throwing out a cigarette butt could create a spark and produce a fire that would generate a larger hazard.”
