March 22, 2022: 1,700 Gallons of Jet Fuel Spilled at Amazon Cargo Hub

A defective valve on a fuel tank caused 1,700 gallons of jet fuel to spill from a cargo plane in Hebron, KY. The plane was located at Amazon Inc.’s air cargo hub at CVG Airport at the time of the incident.
The local fire department was able to flush the material into a drainage system that leads to an oil-water separator. An environmental contractor then pumped out the spillage. An Amazon spokesperson said “at no point did it present any safety concerns to personnel or operations at our facility.”
