A Norfolk Southern train derailment in Aberdeen, MD halted Amtrak services from NY to DC over the weekend. According to Norfolk Southern, approximately 20 loaded coal cars derailed just north of Baltimore. Norfolk Southern, Amtrak and federal authorities have deployed teams to the site.
The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation. There have been no reports of injuries. Authorities have determined there is no threat to local residents or to the environment.
