A derailment in Denver over the weekend sent three empty lumber cars tumbling into the South Platte River. The derailment occurred around 7:30 Saturday morning. A total of seven empty cars derailed. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
The derailment is blocking the South Platte River Trail near Park Avenue West. Denver Parks and Recreation has no estimated date that the trail will reopen.
