A Union Pacific freight train derailed near the University of Southern California’s Health Science campus. According to officials, seventeen cars derailed but there was no hazardous materials involved in the incident. The intersection at San Pablo Street and Valley Boulevard will be closed until the scene can be cleared. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
