The Federal Railroad Administration is modifying the regulations governing changes to the PTC systems and performance reporting. This final rule will be effective as of August 26, 2021.
FRA made changes to the process by which a host railroad must submit a request for amendment before making changes to its PTC Safety Plan or PTC system.
The frequency of reporting went from annual to biannual. There were also adjustments made to the reporting requirements. It now includes positive performance-related information rather than just failure-related information.
