July 22, 2021: CSX Train Carrying Hazmat Derailed in Indiana

A CSX freight train derailed in the area of CR 35 and CR 46A in Auburn, Indiana on Wednesday morning. A total of fifteen cars derailed. Two of those cars did contain hazardous materials but there were no spills reported.
CSX issued the following statement following the derailment: “At approximately 10:15 CT this morning, a CSX train derailed a number of cars carrying intermodal containers near Country Road 35 in Auburn, IN. There were no injuries to the crew. Preliminary reports indicate that there are no spills from the containers. CSX is working with DeKalb County first responders as we work to assess the situation and develop a recovery plan.
The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
