June 25, 2021: Union Pacific Derailment in Iowa Leaking LPG

A Union Pacific freight train derailed in Ames, Iowa on Thursday afternoon. Twenty-seven cars derailed near Carnegie Avenue and Edison Street. Between 15-20 properties in the area were evacuated after liquified petroleum gas was found to be leaking from some of the derailed cars. A hazmat team is on scene. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
