May 7, 2021: FRA Inspector Facing 40 Years in Prison for Lying About Inspections

FRA Safety Inspector, Tremelle Sykes, was charged with eight counts of falsifying official documents. His job was to ensure the railroads in northeast Texas transporting hazardous materials were doing so in compliance with the federal regulations.
According to court documents, Mr. Sykes said he completed inspections at various railyards in Dallas, Forth Worth, Garland, Cleburne, Gunter, and Saginaw throughout 2019. However, no inspections were completed. If convicted, Mr. Sykes is facing up to 40 years in prison.
