May 7, 2021: Two Injured After Fuel Tank Explodes in Maryland

A fuel tank exploded at Advantage Landscaping and Construction in Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, injuring two people.
According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, one man was attempting to weld a 100-gallon portable fuel tank to the back of a flatbed truck. Around 20 gallons of off-road diesel was still inside the tank at the time of the explosion. One person became engulfed in flames. They are currently in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center. A second victim was thrown to the ground during the explosion and suffered non-life threatening injuries .
