September 14, 2020: Massive Train Derailment in B.C.’s Fraser Valley

Early this morning about 20 CN freight cars derailed on a bridge near Hunter Creek just outside Hope, B.C. in Fraser Valley. Several cars ended up in the water below the bridge but so far no injuries have been reported. The cars were carrying potash, which is used as a fertilizer. No hazardous materials were involved in the derailment.
Canadian National Railway said “CN would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by this incident and thanks the first responders present at the scene.” The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
