PHMSA, in coordination with FRA, has amended the Hazardous Materials Regulations in order to allow for the bulk transport of liquified natural gas (LNG) via DOT–113C120W specification rail tank cars that meet the enhanced outer tank requirements. The rule will be effective on August 24, 2020, however, voluntary compliance has been authorized to begin July 24, 2020.
