Three people suffered minor injuries when a Norfolk Southern freight train struck an 18-wheeler that was stuck on the tracks yesterday morning. Over 20 freight cars derailed causing a portion of Buford Highway to be closed for several hours.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said two of the cars that derailed were carrying hazardous materials but there were no reports of leaks. Local officials have stated that the highway will remain closed from Pleasant Hill Road to SR120 while the clean-up continues. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.
