The Federal Railroad Administration has issued a proposed rule that would require 40 states and Washington DC to develop and implement highway-rail grade crossing action plans in response to a mandate from the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act.
Additionally, the proposed rule would require the 10 states that were previously required to create highway-rail grade crossing action plans to update them and submit detailed reports on the actions they have taken to implement them.
Interested parties may submit comments on the proposed rule until January 6, 2020.
