The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is holding a public listening session regarding potential changes being made to the hours of service rules for truck drivers.
FMCSA is considering making changes to the following rules: The short-haul HOS limit; the HOS exception for adverse driving conditions; the 30-minute rest break provision; and the split-sleeper berth rule to allow drivers to split their required time in the sleeper berth.
FMCSA has also asked the vendors for ELDs to participate regarding any potential implementation issues that could arise if the HOS rules do change.
Interested parties may either attend in person or via webcast. The meeting is being held at the Department of Transportation office in Washington D.C. on October 10, 2018.
