Denver Regional Transportation District Commuter Railroad (RTDC) has petitioned FRA for a waiver of compliance on the activation of warning systems.
On April 22, 2016 University of Colorado’s A Line will be opening for passenger service. The grade crossing on that line will use PTC based Wireless Crossing Activation System in order to provide consistent warning times to motorists. The system may not be available during the first 90 days so the grade crossings will be controlled with the traditional ATC system. During that time there will also be an attendant at all grade crossings to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Interested parties may submit comments to FRA until May 23, 2016.
