PHMSA HazMat Alerts Proposed Rules

January 30, 2015: (NPRM)(HM–233F) PHMSA To Amend the Hazardous Materials Regulations

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is proposing amendments to the Hazardous Materials Regulations that include adopting provisions contained in widely-used or long-standing special permits with established safety records. The revisions are intended to provide wider access to the regulatory flexibility that is offered in special permits while at the same time eliminating the need for numerous renewal requests which will reduce the paperwork burdens and facilitating commerce while maintaining an appropriate level of safety.
PHMSA is accepting comments from interested parties on the special permits that are deemed suitable and proposed to be adopted into the Hazardous Materials Regulations. PHMSA is also accepting comments on proposed requirements for special permit applications to include regulatory text in their applications.

Visit Federal Register / Vol. 80, No. 20 for instructions on where to submit your comments and to read the complete proposed rule.
