A Union Pacific train derailed and caught fire in Phoenix, AZ on Friday evening. The cause of the derailment is under investigation but firefighters believe an engine caught fire after several box cars carrying plywood derailed and leaked diesel fuel. The train was also carrying ethanol but those cars were not affected by the derailment.
More than sixty firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and protect surrounding buildings. No injuries were reported.
