February 3, 2021: One Person Injured After 18-Wheeler Collides with Train Baton Rouge, LA

A freight train derailed early this morning after it struck an 18-wheeler on Thomas Road near Highway 19 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the 18-wheeler was able to get out of his truck following the incident. He suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a local hospital.
The derailed cars are currently blocking Highway 19 (Scotland Ave) where it intersects with Thomas Road.
The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation. There were no reports of hazardous materials being involved in the incident.
