Four railcars came off the tracks in Dickson Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon. Delaware Lackawanna Railroad was transporting several tons of sand on its way to Carbondale.
Cleanup crews have begun removing the crumpled railcars, twisted steel that was ripped from the railroad ties, and thousands of pounds of sand that spilled during the derailment.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported and the train was not carrying any hazardous materials so there is no threat to the community. An investigation into the cause of the derailment is underway.
