A tractor trailer hauling flammable powder overturned on I-81 on Tuesday morning. The driver, Alex Calhoun, was flown to a local hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive. He was issued a citation for making an unsafe lane change. The accident occurred near mile marker 211 in the Greenville area. The interstate was shut down through Tuesday. Authorities needed to unload the hazardous materials from the truck before the area could be cleaned up. Drivers were forced to detour on northbound I-81 at exit 200 (Fairfield) in Rockbridge County.
