November 1, 2019: (SA) Hazardous Materials: Unapproved Foreign-Made DOT Cylinders

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has issued a safety advisory regarding the risks associated with requalifying, filling, and transporting cylinders bearing the DOT marking “DOT 4E” or “DOT 4BA”. These cylinders were produced by Metal Mate, a Thailand based company.
Metal Mate has not been authorized by PHMSA to manufacture cylinders to DOT specifications. The cylinders are not to be used to transport hazardous materials in commerce to, from, or within the United States or on United States registered aircraft.
