CSX has petitioned the Federal Railroad Administration for a waiver of compliance regarding 49 CFR § 232.205, Class I brake test-initial terminal inspection, and § 232.207, Class IA brake tests—1,000-mile inspection.
According to the petition, CSX is requesting permission to extend the mileage limits from 1,000 to 1,052. Additionally, the petition also seeks authorization for a qualified person rather than a qualified mechanical inspector be permitted to inspect these trains.
At this time, FRA does not have plans to schedule a public hearing on the matter. Interested parties may submit comments regarding the petition until January 3, 2019.
