August 20, 2018: Petition for Approval

The East Penn, Middletown New Jersey and Tyburn Railroads have petitioned the FRA for approval for an operating employee to use railroad-supplied electronic devices (camera phones) specific purposes such as to photograph a safety hazard, mechanical defect, or track defect.
According to the regulations, railroad operating employees may only use authorized railroad-supplied electronic devices if it has been approved by the Federal Railroad Administration. At this time, FRA does not plan to hold a public meeting regarding the petition.
Interested parties may submit comments regarding this petition until October 4, 2018.
