Around 6 pm on Sunday evening, a CSX locomotive collided with a loaded coal train inside CSX’s Newport News railyard.
The derailment did cause a portion of the track between Richmond and Newport News to close temporarily. This closure will impact Amtrak trains 99 and 66.
According to a CSX spokesperson, there were no reported injuries. Company personnel and environmental contractors are working together to clean up the minor fuel spill.
