May 7, 2021: FRA Inspector Facing 40 Years in Prison for Lying About Inspections

Tremelle Sykes, a hazardous materials safety inspector for the Federal Railroad Administration, has been charged with eight counts of falsifying official documents. Mr. Sykes was tasked with inspecting railroads in northeast Texas transporting hazardous materials for compliance with the federal regulations.
According to court documents, Mr. Sykes claimed to have completed inspections at various railyards in Dallas, Forth Worth, Garland, Cleburne, Gunter, and Saginaw throughout 2019 when in fact no inspections were completed. If convicted, Mr. Sykes is facing up to 40 years in prison.
