New Jersey Transit Corporation is seeking an extension on an existing waiver of compliance concerning an Extended Temporal Separation Plan. The waiver was granted to Southern New Jersey Light Rail Transit, which is owned and operated by NJ Transit Corp., in 1999 and has been extended or modified several times since then.
NJ Light Rail is a commuter railroad that operates between Trenton, NJ and Camden, NJ. A portion of the 34-mile route crosses over the same tracks used by Conrail’s nightly freight operations. NJ Light Rail currently uses non-FRA compliant diesel multiple unit trainsets during an exclusive passenger period, temporarily separated from Conrail’s night freight operations.
Interested parties may submit comments on the waiver request until September 26, 2016.
