A Norfolk Southern employee at the Enola Diesel Shop in Pennsylvania has died after falling into a 40-foot deep pit that was located on the shop’s property.
Stuart Riggs, 58, lost his balance when a safety rail gave way and he fell to his death. The Cumberland County Coroner, Charley Hall, confirmed Mr. Riggs died from multiple traumatic injuries in an accidental fall. Norfolk Southern said “We were saddened that one of our employees suffered fatal injuries today. Local first responders and NS personnel are on the scene. The loved ones of our employee are in our thoughts, as are his colleagues.”
