May 17, 2021: Union Pacific Train Carrying Hydrochloric Acid Derailed in Albert Lea, MN

Local residents had to shelter in place on Saturday afternoon after a train carrying hydrochloric acid derailed near Goose Lake in Albert Lea, MN.
A total of 28 cars derailed. Union Pacific has been working throughout the night to clean up the derailment. Authorities are asking residents to avoid Hawthorne Street and Ulsted Avenue. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
